Assessing Davies Toward a Theory of Revolution

Assessing Davies' Toward a Theory of Revolution'Assessing Davies' Toward a Theory of Revolution' by Steven Knight and Bertram Smith is an excellent resource for high school and college students. This course or study guide helps students develop an overview of the Marxist theory and its implications for revolutionaries. However, it is only a general overview; you will need to develop your own theory. Davies provides a way to develop this in your own research.Knight and Smith's 'Assessing Davies' Toward a Theory of Revolution' covers everything that Davies discusses in his book; but that's not all. They also provide material for discussion at the end of the class. In this way, students are provided with the opportunity to develop their own theory. The class begins with a reading of Marx's Capital, which is the foundation of all his basic concepts. It includes material on value, commodity, and labor. What are these basic concepts? They are necessary for developing your own theory of revo lution. Davies explains what these things are and why they are so important. The book goes on to cover other areas in Davies' theories. He gives several examples that explain why he believes these things. He also discusses other things that may be more important than the ones discussed in the book, such as the Hegelian concept of spirit. The book then focuses on developing a new theory of revolution. While Davies used some specific materials for this, it also includes materials that he could have used. This book shows you how to research and formulate your own theory. Some of the topics covered are topics that are useful to all students. Students will find out about the development of Marxism in Russia, the differences between the economic theories of Marx and Lenin, and a variety of theories in the late 19th century. These topics are important to all students, whether they are experts in Marxism or not. Most of the readings were very interesting to students. However, some of them were very dry, with little actual information. Others included some well-known authors. Those topics are not usually topics that interest high school students, but if you make use of these in your own research, you will find them to be very useful.Overall, this class was a success. It was easy to follow, and it had the students thinking about their theories. I recommend this class to students that want to learn about Marxist theory.
